The industrial past. Stories of real people. Arts and culture. History and contemporary life. Merseyside provides almost an embarrassment of riches enough to inspire any poet! I sought for these poetic tales to do justice to the uniqueness of Merseyside and all the while during the writing of this collection my sense of humour was never too far away (I think it must be imprinted within the DNA of the region!)

I came to appreciate and genuinely love Merseyside as I wrote this collection during the Covid-19 lockdown of spring 2020. Inspired by places I had visited over the years and tales of people I encountered along the way. Some of these are people I actually met; others are those who left their mark on history now brought to life once more through the power of words.

Can a book really be considered healing? A Healing For Gaia had a lot to live up to with the title! These poetic narratives more than do...be they inspirational, thought provoking or just downright entertainingly off-the-wall! Absorb yourself within these pages and leave the cares of the world behind for a little while - PSYCHIC NEWS MAGAZINE.

Love and peace to all who get these words, and more importantly even more love and peace to those who are unable to comprehend at this point in their evolvement. I cannot claim personal credit for anything I create and I do find myself continually amazed by the creative process and fascinated to see what next is produced through me!

As I have gone about my poetic journey there are some poems from my archive which for some reason or other never found themselves included in any of my  poetry collections. Although not in print, they have nevertheless often found their way into my live poetry sets and radio show over the years.

Taken from a period stretching back to 2012 right through up to the year I compiled this book in 2018, I do remember writing every single one of my poems and interestingly my mindset at the time. This has made the entire process compelling and fascinating, as I selected the poems to include in this book.

Dedicated to this beautiful planet on which we all reside and in respect for the only vehicle we have to explore its wonders – our human body.

Inspired by ancient landscapes, folklore, nature in all her glory, poignant and inspirational stories of people, paganism, travelling to embrace the arts and above all the simple joy of witnessing a beautiful sunset or waves lapping gently against the shore.

The collection I have performed more than any other, and it never gets old for me.

It's lovely, life-affirming, amusing…SPIRITUAL ENGLAND

I appreciate I am a fortunate person. I love to travel and I adore writing poems. Happily, I am able to combine the two in many of my poetry books. For this collection I travelled further and explored deeper than ever before. You can hold the results in your very hands. I always see my stories as glimpses into moments of time, rather like seeds trapped in amber, windows offering a view into past events and places I have been. Enjoy this collection as much as I enjoyed travelling and creating it for you. And if in doubt write a poem, that’s always good!

Inspired and written about places I came to know while living in Cheshire for some fifteen years or on my trips back to visit the County.

A walk around Chester Walls experiencing echoes of the past, exploring the leafy countryside, a cricket match in Prestbury and a night spent at the Edge in Alderley, finding seclusion amidst the hustle and bustle of urban life, a visit to Tatton one summer’s day, and poetic homages to the rich industrial history and natural beauty of Cheshire. Poetic stories of people above all else.

Although I have lived in many places since, I always feel a part of my heart belongs to Cheshire and when I do find myself there it does feel a lot like coming back home.

I love these poems; they were written with love and to share the message of universal love to all. Veganism and living lightly are central to my own life philosophy.

Here is poetry looking at life. A particular perspective on life which will be alien to many and yet I know through performing these poems in their music form they speak to the hearts and minds of so many others who share my distaste for a treadmill kind of existence.

This is my most personal poetry collection to date, here we have quite literally my life’s work or I suppose more accurately it encompasses the story of my journey of personal growth at the point of penning these poems and creating the music album using the poetry as my lyrics.

LANCASHIRE LIVING MAGAZINE said - These observational poems are thought provokingly deep, sometimes historical, other times contemporary and often simply laugh out loud funny! The Rich Industrial History of Lancashire provided much inspiration for the poet, as did the landscape and yet above all we discover stories of real people made large as life through the power of words.

DEAN FRASER says - The maternal side of my family hailed from Lancashire. This is a county I have come to know intimately over the decades, my first live poetry shows were right there in Lancashire and I actually lived within the Preston area when writing this collection. These tales have been inspired and written about places I have visited in the evocative Red Rose County and stories of my own Lancashire ancestors.
